I spent most of my younger menstruating days in the fetal position tearfully cursing period cramps and bleeding through my pants. And, when I wasn't on my period I was busy fighting off hormonal acne and PMS.

I was the poster child for hormonal imbalance and yet I didn't do anything to heal my symptoms because I was taught at home, in school, and even in doctors' offices that these were all "normal" symptoms of menstruation.

It wasn't until after I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer - cancer of a major hormone-producing gland - that I intuitively realized my menstrual symptoms were not normal and likely a sign of hormonal health issues to come.

I decided right then and there that my body was not designed to bring me pain and menstruation is not the curse of being a woman.

It was time to make a change. It was time to heal.

I visited countless doctors for advice on healing my periods and they all said the same frustrating thing - "Hormonal birth control is your only answer."

Luckily because of my background in fertility awareness and cycle tracking I knew that this couldn't be further from the truth.

In fact, hormonal birth control would simply block my brain and body's ability to ovulate which would shut down my menstrual cycles all together rather than heal and "regulate" them as they claimed.

That's when I enrolled in health coaching courses, women's healing arts trainings, and became a certified hormones specialist through the Institute of Transformational Nutrition. 

And with simple cycle tracking, nutrition, and lifestyle practices I healed my menstrual cycle naturally in just a few short months.

Today I have the lightest, most pain-free periods of my life...
